This is what exactly happened to me today morning at 8:30 AM when I left my apartment for work. The hallway and the staircase was still pretty dark due to the ongoing heavy rains in Mumbai and the security had already switched off the lights.

Sprained real bad today morning on the way to work after missing a step and falling down the stairs - luckily it was the second last step of the flight which I missed otherwise I would have rolled over. Though I was not using my mobile, but it was equivalent to it.

Moral : watch every step of your journey.

Don’t use your mobile checking your emails or social media while walking, thinking you gain more time for your mobile time. See ahead of your course of commute and observe your surroundings - otherwise one wrong step could even be fatal.

It was the most joy-est moment (even more than my brother and sis-in-law) to my parents and my sister-in-law’s parents who were anxiously waiting for this moment for almost a decade.

The kids are named Avani and Taarini by the preiest of the ISCKON temple, Chicago.

The first thing I thought of was the domain names to be bought based on their names but its like $787.49 ($940 renewal) per year ! So much for the country of Nicaragua !

But there was a problem - I just couldn’t feel it so comfortable reading into it after spending 10+ hours on the laptop for work. It was NOT an escape from a busy digital lifestyle. I was back onto a smaller screen which was like a laptop with an app that all it could do was to download and read eBooks from Amazon Kindle store.

This just didn’t feel so cool anymore ! Then I got my mother to use it to read her books - well … it was just one book and the bookmarking feature was too limited to get into using it. Anywhow she read 1 or 2 books and was done with it. So there went my $300 Kindle Oasis ! I charge once a few months just to check if it’s still working - and it still is, when checked today.

Maybe the next gen would use it by default instead of reading from paper based books. But sometimes new tech won’t be able to catch on for everyone inlcuding myself at close to 42 years of age. I can imagine Glasses would not resolute for anyone not a teenager any more. I am talking about the majority even if it's 60%.

So I bought one tech book in 2021 which I still have yet to finish and 3 more this year (2 are not techical but biz related with the tech mindset). And I intend on finishing the 2 non-tech books by this year end and one tech book fully by this year.

Ever since my project with Growthink came to and end in December 2019, I was on the hunt for new work. But most of the job postings mentioned newer tech stuff like React, Angular and Vue which I didn’t explore mainly till date. So I registered for a couple of courses in the beginning 2020 and got the hang of basics of React and Angular. But even then most companies were on the lookout for 2-3 years of experince in these areas.

I wanted to join a worksplace where collaboration was there by default. All this time I was working as a sole developer and had no idea of collaboration on tech projects. So after a lot of applications, I was finally offered an opportunity with a Chennai based company called ADF Data Science - it’s Applied Data Finance in the USA where the company is registered. So far the journey has been good and I get to work with a whole lot of other developers who are mainly into Python and some are into Java.

Looking forward to contributing as a team member rather than as a one-man shop.
